Hunter's third birthday is approaching, so I'm in planning mode. We're having a much smaller party than we did last year but we're still having a theme and I'll be making most of the decorations myself.
While I was searching for inspiration, I came across a lovely cowboy birthday party at Escarabajos Bichos y Mariposas. It's my favourite type of party - made up of lots of great DIY projects that have been executed with perfection.
The colour palette was lifted by a wonderfully unexpected injection of turquoise, which you can see on the invitation above. There were also home made hobby horses for guests to ride. (Here's a fabulous hobby horse tutorial if you would like to make one for your little cowboy.)
The party table was covered with brown paper and wooden crates held party food. Cutlery, plates and napkins were coordinated and napkins were tied together with string and brown paper stamped with the number four.
Bundles of hay covered with old sacks served as perfect chairs for party guests.
My favourite element of this party is the party bags each guest received on arrival. They contained homemade costumes for each child. This is a lovely way to make sure the theme of the party is embraced, but it obviously a lot of work.
You can see the costumes hanging from a makeshift clothes line above. The girls' outfit was a headpiece and poncho decorated around the neck and hemline. The boys' costume was a cowboy hat with a turquoise star, vest and neck scarf. Pretty darn cute.
I'm sure an amazing time was had by all who attended this lovely cowboy children's birthday party.

I thought I had left a comment here. I just cannot believe our party is on little lovely!!! as I simply adore your blog since ever, so for me it is an honour to be there. Thank you so much for featuring the b-day of my son.
