Like most children, Charlotte loves helium balloons.
So, for her first birthday on 1 July this year, I made helium balloon cupcakes. They involve some preparation ahead of time and a bit of assembly on the day but I think they're totally worth the effort.
I'd also planned a birthday cake in the shape of a house with a large bunch of tiny helium balloons attached to the top, to honour one of our favourite family movies. I was told it wasn't possible because the balloons were too small but this invitation has given me hope. I may just try it one day soon.

As an aside, I saw this photo last week and wanted to include reference to it on this post. I'm not sure when it was originally taken, but I hadn't seen it before I made these cupcakes for Charlotte's birthday. The internet's a big place filled with people who try to copy other people's work and claim it as their own and I wanted to take a moment to make sure no-one thought I was trying to do just that.

oh my! this is too gorgeous for words!!!

Hello! I found your blog through Edible Crafts and loved your post on the cake bunting, and then spotted your helium balloon cupcake favor. I love both so much and I'm featuring you on my blog today, and linking back and crediting to you. I hope this is okay. If it is not, please leave me a note and I will take the posts down. I am now looking through your archives and can't wait to see all that you have posted. Great job!
