Two year old children are great fun.
They're so eager to learn and proud of what they know. At the moment, Hunter is really proud that he knows the name of colours. So, on Wednesday I decided to show him how colours are made. If you're looking for a fun project this weekend, this may just be for you.
- Plastic cups
- Water
- Food colouring (red, blue and yellow)
- Old clothing
Directions:
- Fill each plastic cup with a small amount of water.
- Add several drops of food colouring in the three primary colours (red, yellow and blue) to one cup each.
- Create secondary and tertiary colours by by mixing different combinations of the original coloured water together in separate cups.
We both had a fabulous time. If you try this with your little lovely, just be sure to wear old clothing as food colouring can stain.

I tried to email you but it came back to me as a failed attempt.
Anyways, great blog. Just wanted to let you know.

A truly original way for a two year old to learn about mixing secondary and tertiary colours without too much mess - the whole pouring aspect gets an 'A' plus from me as well as that is a learning experience in itself.. Looks like so much fun particularly on a hot day - drinks for all.
